Stranded Loose Tube Non-metallic Strength Member Armored Cable (GYFTY53)
The fibers, 250µm, are positioned in a loose tube made of a high modulus plastic. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) locates in the center of core as a non-metallic strength member. A FRP, sometimes sheathed with polyethylene (PE) for cable with high fiber count. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the strength member into a compact and circular core. The gap in the cable core is filled with water blocking filler. The cable core is extruded with a layer of polyethylene inner sheath, and the double-sided plastic-coated belt (PSP) is longitudinally coated and extruded with polyethylene outer sheath to form the cable.
